These are some of the reason due to which we are facing the problem of water scarcity...
Causes of water scarcity.
Water pollution.
| Pollution map. |
Water pollution is an important issues, to which we have to focus. Our main source of water is the Rainwater and waters which flows through river but if we pollute this water also there will be no edible water. Rivers from which we get drinking water, in the same river the industries dump their poisonous chemicals and industrial waste. The industries are one of the main causes of industrial pollution.
Ships when get submerged in the ocean, due to the oil spill and the spill of cargo water gets polluted. Air crashes, voyagers waste and the excretion from the water vessels exhaust cause a great amount of pollution.

Have you ever thought that where does the waste water from our toilets and houses go..? it will be shocking to know that this dirty water from our houses are let in the river from where we get our drinking water. These are the main factors that cause water pollution.
The major cause of water pollution is acid rain, for this also we are only responsible. Due to the ever increasing air pollution we can see the effect on the rain cycle. Poisonous chemicals such as Cloro-floro-carbon ( CFC ) which are non other than emitted from our air conditioners are one of the major factor for the cause of acid rains.
Water pollution is not only dangerous for us but also for the marine animals living in the rivers, lakes and ocean.

How to save Water
Starting From home.
As it is said '' Charity begins at home '' in the same way we can start saving water from our houses. If we be attentive and pay attention towards the small leakages and running taps in our houses we can save a lot of water.
When we use shower while having bath, we save time but we also waste a lot of water. Compare to having bath in shower, if we have bath with the bucket water we can save approximately two buckets of water daily. And this amount of water if saved can be used for many other purposes.

We often water our garden in the morning thinking that the water will be consumed by the plant, But if we carefully observe, 45% of the water gets evaporated by the sun rays and this causes wastage of water. So, instead of watering your plants in the morning we should water them in the evening or when the sun is dawning. This activity will not only help you to save water but will also be beneficial to the plants.

Rain water harvesting is another effective way to eradicate water scarcity. In India, the monsoon rains pour their shower from june to september and if this rain water is collected and stored efficiently then we can use the same water for different purposes later on. This an effective way to save water, store it and reuse it when needed. If every house implements such practice then a huge amount of water can be saved.
| The process of Distillation. |
67% of the Earth's water is in Saline condition, that is in the ocean. The Water in the sea contains 35 times more salt than the regular drinking water. If such water will be consumed, it can cause illness and can also be fatal. To consume this water, the salt contents have to be separated from the water which is possible by the process of distillation. Distillation is a process in which the sea water which is salty is heated at the temperature of 100 degree celsius and the water vapor which is released is collected in another vessels, and the salt content remains behind.
This is an simple but effective method to generate fresh water for drinking and other uses. The problem which arises is providing energy for heating, but due to new scientific inventions and technology with the help of solar energy enough heat can be produced to heat the water in the vessel to its boiling point and also the remaining salt contents which were left over can be reused.

Cooking food in a pressure cooker.
You all must have heard that using a pressure saves fuel and time, but it is an unknown fact that pressure cooker also saves water. Whenever we cook in a normal cooking vessel most of the water contents in it vessels transforms to vapor and gets evaporated, due to which a huge amount of water gets wastage. But if we use a pressure cooker, the Water vapor will be in the vessel itself. Cooking in a pressure cooker will not only help us save water but will also help us by saving fuel, time and money. If we cook in a pressure cooker can save up to 300 liters of water per day.
Brothers and Sisters, We are so privileged that we have water to drink, wash, cook, clean today but tomorrow it may not be so. and there are thousands of people especially children who do not get water to drink also. Even wasting a drop of water is like making someone thirsty. We Should all take Active part in saving water, because water is as precious as life and it cannot be made or prepared chemically or technologically. Hence, my dear ones, hope you will be able to save water by these methods and will be a blessing to many others by doing so. Thank you.
